It’s so hard to keep our tongues from getting us into trouble, isn’t it?  Just like

the Bible says in James 3, the littlest member of our bodies causes us the

most trouble! We can talk and talk and justify whatever we are saying to

ourselves, can’t we? Oh, that I could have a meek and quiet spirit at all times

and control my tongue. Sometimes I am thinking about the Lord and truly

mean to be what the Lord would want me to be and then out spill some words

of which I know He wouldn’t approve. “An informed leader (or substitute wife,

mother, teacher) is a good leader” I explain to my conscience as I seek more

information, sliding down the unseen slope to

gossip.  It’s amazing that I have so many

excuses to hide my sins under!

Help me today, dear Lord, to bridle my tongue

and keep every word pure before you!
