The Almighty God

Genesis 17:1 - “And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.”

We live in a world of hurt today: Single-parent homes, broken marriages, sickness, accidents, murders, robberies, heartache, and heartbreak. You can find a story of hurt in many homes and lives today.

“Where Could I Go?”
Living below in this old sinful world, hardly a comfort can afford.
Striving alone to face temptations sore,
Where could I go but to the Lord. Where could I go, O where could I go
Seeking a refuge for my soul, needing a friend, to help me in the end,
Where could I go but to the Lord.

This world is a veil of sorrows, so we are introduced to “THE ALMIGHTY GOD” in our text. With all the above in mind, think with me on these thoughts:

1. GOD IS ABLE; HE HAS STRENGTH ENOUGH
Romans 4:21, “And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.” Is that not comforting? God is able. As Christians, we need to learn there are two questions faith never asks:
WHY?  When God decides something, faith does not ask why.

HOW?  Faith does not question God about how he will bring things to pass. Faith just claims the Word of God without questions.

Ephesians 3:20, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,”. Sweet peace is yours when you come to the place of believing the promises.

2. HIS LOVE IS BEYOND MEASURE
“Love of God”
The Love of God is greater far, than tongue or pen can ever tell
it goes beyond the highest star and reaches to the lowest hell
Oh love of God, how rich and pure, how measureless, and strong.
It shall forevermore endure, the saints and angels’ song.

Romans 8:39, “Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” When you have described that little word “so” in the verse, then you have touched the hem of the garment of God’s love for us.

3. SUFFICIENT WISDOM IS PROMISED US
There are some promises we must claim in order to tap into the vastness of God’s wisdom and then there will be much more we do not understand. James 1:5, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” Philippians 2:5, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:”

When you come to the place of “what shall I do”? You can cry out to God and our wise God says in, Psalm 32:8, “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.”

God has strength enough, love beyond measure and His wisdom is available to us.
