I Don't Worry Cause It...

Matthew 6:34 - “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”

In 1938 Jimmy Davis, one-time governor of Louisiana, recorded a song titled, “I don’t worry cause it makes no difference now.” It was quite popular in the country world, and each verse closed with the same words, “I don’t worry 'cause it makes no difference now.” Although the song was popular, it seems the message wasn’t because people continued to worry.

Almost 2,000 years earlier we received similar advice from Jesus, advising us of the foolishness of worry, and the lack of faith it displays, but it seems His message wasn’t popular either. People continue to worry about almost everything. A medical journal reported that half the patients in hospitals are there because of conditions aggravated by worry. Understand that faith and worry do not reside in the same heart.

Let’s gain some help from the Scriptures today.

THERE IS NO HELP FOR WORRY UNLESS YOU ARE A CHRISTIAN.
The solution for worry comes from the Heavenly Father to His children.
Matthew 6:26 - “Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?”

ONCE YOU ARE SAVED, WORRY IS UN-CHRISTIAN
Matthew 6:32 - “(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.” The word Gentiles here means heathen without a heavenly father. After all, if we did not have a Heavenly Father looking after us, we would have reason to worry, but we are not Gentiles in the sense of the word, we are the Children of God. 1 John 3:1 says, “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.”

BEGIN TO EXERCISE YOUR CHRISTIAN FAITH
Matthew 6:30 - “Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?” All of our worry is a direct result of our little faith. Faith is not a passive attribute but is something that we must put into action, according to our instructions in the Word of God.

BE SURE YOU PUT JESUS FIRST IN YOUR LIFE
Matthew 6:33 - “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” If Christ is first in your life, you have nothing at all to worry about. For too long, we have tolerated a type of religion that believes Christianity means you have been saved, baptized, and hold church membership.

We must move back to where we place Christ first place and live our lives for Him.
