Why Didn't You Tell Me About The Lord?

Ezekiel 3:18 - “When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.”
Car accidents are a scary thing and most often catch people off guard. Rarely do people have the opportunity to know about something in advance that might have prevented it. Can you imagine knowing a car mechanic, whether an acquaintance or an intimate friend, and they heard or noticed something about your vehicle that needed to be fixed but didn’t ever tell you? Why wouldn’t they tell you? Perhaps they were afraid they might come across to you, especially if you had not taken notice of the issue yourself, as a know-it-all trying to offer unsolicited advice or warning.
Imagine that down the road, the unaddressed issue led to an accident so catastrophic it should have taken your life. I’m sure the car mechanic you know would be receiving a call or a visit very soon.
When you speak with the mechanic, your first question would probably be; Did you notice this issue that I had with my car before this nearly fatal accident that I had? To which they answer you, yes. The next question I imagine would be, why did you not tell me about it? Then they proceed to inform you they were afraid of how you might respond to the unsolicited information. You then ask them if they knew that one day if left untreated, this issue would lead to an accident that would be fatal for anyone if not for the grace of God. To this question, they also answer, yes. Tell me what would you think of that individual?
There is a question that I often thought about after I first got saved. Why did all those Christians I knew before my salvation not tell me about the Lord? I have not seen any of them since I got saved so I have never been presented with the opportunity to ask them.
The only person who ever shared the gospel with me, which at the time I aggressively rejected, could not be asked this question. He had done all he could do to warn me of the wrath to come. However, he was the only one amongst so many Christians I had interacted with in my life, up to that point, that had tried to do so.
This man was my orthodontist and, at the first appointment following my salvation, I informed him of the decision I had made, to which he greatly rejoiced. It is important to note that this godly man had pointed out my wretched state the very first time that I met him but did so in a compassionate way. I had been going to his office for over two years at that point. No matter how many times I had interacted with him following our very first encounter my blood could have never come anywhere near his hands because he cared enough about my eternal soul to address my issue immediately.
Christian, I don’t know if you are a car mechanic, orthodontist, nurse, teacher, contractor or factory worker. It doesn’t matter what your profession is. If you are a born-again child of God, you have been blessed with an ability to warn people of the imminent danger they face, the wrath that is to come for all those who do not trust Christ as their Savior.
“He that be believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” (John 3:36).
It is not our job to do this but rather should be our mission as it is the Great Commission. May we have a passion for the souls of man so that, like my orthodontist, we would not miss opportunities to tell people about the Lord.
