Examine Yourselves

2 Corinthians 13:5 - “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?”
This is the question we as a church and as Christians need to ask. We need to judge ourselves by the Word of God. The Bible admonishes us to “examine ourselves.” Something is wrong in Christianity today. The problem can be traced to the individuals whose names can be found on the church membership rolls. According to this world's standards, the average church member is just fine. The problem is someone changed the standard by which we are to judge.
Suppose a person is taking an art course in school, he might ask the teacher, “How am I doing?” He might be told he is doing very well compared to others in the art class. But when the point of reference is Michelangelo, he may not be doing well at all. (copied)
There are those who think they are abounding in the work of the Lord because they are doing as well as the fellow beside them. NOTE: If the fellow next to you is as crooked as a snake, and you are only as good as he is, that makes you as crooked as a snake.
Paul told the Corinthian Christians they were not wise, comparing themselves to the wrong standard. Look at 2 Corinthians 10:12, “For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.” What makes a thing right or wrong is the STANDARD OF GOD’S WORD. The solution to the problem of following the wrong standards is to follow the right standard—GOD’S WORD!
*There are cultists who faithfully observe their religion's rules, believing they are right.
*There are people who kill babies through abortion, believing they are right.
*There are homosexuals who believe that they can practice their sin while believing they are right.
RIGHT IS ONLY RIGHT IF IT AGREES WITH THE BIBLICAL STANDARDS OF GOD’S WORD.
It might be wise to hide His Word in our hearts that we might not sin against God (Psalm 119:11).
