Facing Hard Times

Isaiah 55:6 - “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:”
One of the great facts of the Bible is stated by Jesus in John 16:33, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation:”. The same truth is spoken of in the earliest days of recorded Christian history. Job 14:1, “Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.”
So, what can we do? Psalm 73:28 says, “But it is good for me to draw near to God:” The truth is, God is constantly inviting, urging, and pleading with us to draw nigh unto Him, and with this truth comes many wonderful promises. The Psalmist said, “But it is good for me to draw near to God.”
DO YOU HAVE TROUBLES?
Draw nigh to God. He will help you.
Psalm 50:15 - “And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.” Now many call on Him when they are a long distance from God in their personal life. Perhaps some sin stands between you and God. Confess them and draw nigh, he will answer.
DO YOU HAVE PROBLEMS?
Draw nigh to God. He will undertake it for you.
Psalm 55:22 - “Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.” It really means for you to bring the matter to the Lord. Cast your burden upon the Lord, and you must be near Him in your spiritual life, to do so.
Perhaps you have sought help from friends, and it proved to be inadequate. Draw near to the Lord. Genesis 18:14 - “Is any thing too hard for the LORD?” Luke 1:37 - “For with God nothing shall be impossible.” Take your problems to the Lord and leave them there.
DO YOU HAVE WEAKNESSES?
Draw nigh unto God. Are you troubled with temptations in certain areas? Are there pressures closing in on you because of those temptations? Do you really want some help? Then listen, 1 Corinthians 10:12-13 - “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” Draw near to God, confess your weakness, and forsake it.
DO YOU NEED GUIDANCE?
Draw nigh unto God. Proverbs 3:5-6 - “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” There is nothing more needful in the Christian life, than guidance from God, and He offers it freely to all those who will trust Him.
“Is your all on the altar of sacrifice laid? Your heart does the Spirit control?
You can only be blest and have peace and sweet rest, as you yield Him your body and soul.”
